Once a queen of immense beauty ruled alongside Akhenaton during the Amarna Period and helped her beloved Akhenaton promote his new religion. Her name was Nefertiti, and she was arguably the most beautiful woman in the world during her time. ![]()
She had a short reign of around twelve years and then vanished completely from history. Very little is known about her, but yet she still continues to captivate the world with her beauty.
The translation of Nefertiti means “The beautiful one has arrived.” She lived in Tell El Amarna, located around 300 hundred miles south of Cairo. It is believed that Nefertiti was probably a distant relative to Akhenaton, possibly the daughter of an official, Ay, who would himself become Pharaoh after Akhenaton’s successors, Smenkhare and Tutankhamon, had both died in a relatively short time.
