Ptah - A Creator God

Ptah was one of the gods credited with creation according to the ancient Egyptians. He was the third most important god in their hierarchy, only coming in behind Ra and Amun.
Often perceived as being mummy like, Ptah carried a staff inscribed with the symbols of life, stability and creation. It was said that Ptah created anything he chose, be it gods, towns or men, by merely speaking the words. This made him unique as the only god who did not have to physically work.
Aligned with Memphis, Ptah was the patron god of skilled architects and craftsmen. This association was probably made due to the abundance of fine limestone around Memphis which aided in construction immensely. In later history, it was said that Ptah created Rameses II from pure electrum.
Around Memphis it was said that Ptah’s wife was Sekhmet and his son was either Nefertem or Imhotep.
