Who Discovered Ancient Egypt?

For hundreds of years Egypt and her history has fascinated the world. Over the years many have been attracted by the mystique and magical history of this amazing culture, driving many to persue a career in archaeology.
In the last few hundred years there have been both good and bad archaeologists making finds in Egypt. Some have employed quite explosive techniques (yes, literally!) whilst others have employed far more considered methods of exploration.
The vast majority of archaeology, both past and present, has been about making small finds, discovering tiny pieces of information which slowly help to build a bigger picture of what life was like in ancient times. Over the years these small snippets of information have evolved into the history we now how.
For this section though we will concentrate more on those archaeologists who have been responsible for the bigger finds. Some of the names you will have undoubtedly heard before - Howard Carter, who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamon has the kind of immortality in history that many pharaohs could only dream of. Dr Zahi Hawass has been in so many documentries that his face is known the world over.
